From Absorbing to Sharing: My Journey in the Doll Community

Miniature Art

I've been thinking a lot lately about how I got started in the doll community and how much it has shaped my journey over the past 18 years. When I first dipped my toes into the world of collecting, blogs were my lifeline. They were where I learned everything—from the latest doll releases to the intricacies of creating dioramas.

Shuga Shug, The Fashion Doll Chronicles, Scary Doll Person, Dragondee—these were my mentors, my guides, long before I felt comfortable speaking up on forums or social media. They taught me about Integrity Toys dolls, sourcing miniatures, styling miniature spaces, and so much more. Without them, there would be no Nesha Kaye.

Now, after all these years of absorbing knowledge and honing my skills, I feel it's time for me to give back to the community that has given me so much. While I may not consider myself an expert in fashion dolls, I have a wealth of experience in creating dioramas, photography, navigating the world of 1:6 scale miniatures, and maintaining creativity and boundaries within the community.

So, I decided to create a space—a blog—where newbies and seasoned collectors alike can come together to learn, share, and connect. A space where we can discuss all aspects of collecting, not just the glamorous parts, but the struggles and challenges too. I want this to be a soft place—a sanctuary—for collectors to feel supported and understood.

I may not have all the answers, and what works for me may not work for everyone, but I hope to inspire discussion and offer a fresh perspective. Together, let's build a community that nurtures and empowers the next generation of 1:6 scale collectors.
