Organizing 1:6 Scale Furniture: Tips for Storing Bulky Pieces
I'm back with another organization tip, and this time, I'm tackling the challenge of storing bulky, oddly shaped furniture pieces in your collection. Over the years, I've tried and tested various methods, and I'm excited to share my top three cost-saving strategies with you.
Tips for Storing Bulky Pieces
Let's start with the big guns—larger furniture pieces like sofas, fireplaces, beds, and kitchens. For these hefty items, I swear by the Tjena storage box with lid from Ikea. These boxes are longer and wider, allowing me to stack my larger pieces like sofas, beds, and fireplaces into fewer boxes. One large Tjena box can hold up to 6 sofas and 2-3 beds, depending on their size. Plus, these boxes are sturdy enough to handle my heavier pieces like kitchens without fear of them falling apart.
Moving on to mid-size furniture like tables, chairs, and shelves, I opt for a heavy-duty file storage box. These boxes allow me to stack pieces neatly, but their more compact size prevents me from over-stacking, which can lead to damage.
Lastly, for small pieces like small shelves, stools, and my beloved Vitra Miniature Chairs, I use a square Tjena box from Ikea. These boxes fit perfectly within my Kallax unit, providing another storage option besides the wire shelving that houses the rest of my collection.
I hope these tips help you get your own collection organized! If you have any other clever storage solutions for 1:6 scale furniture, please share them in the comments below. Let's help each other keep our collections safe and tidy!
