Maximizing Productivity: A Peek into My Batching Process

I want to share one of my favorite time management hacks that has been a game-changer for me when it comes to content creation and photo series: batching.

A Peek into My Batching Process

So, what exactly is batching? In a nutshell, it’s about bundling similar tasks together and tackling them all at once within a designated time frame, rather than spreading them out over several days or weeks.

Let me walk you through how I use batching to boost my productivity. With my setup, I can fit two room boxes side by side on my shooting table, along with a smaller tables in a spare bedroom and kitchen, allowing me to shoot 3-5 concepts within a one-week period.

Here’s a glimpse into my batching process:

Day 1-3: Setup and style 3-5 spaces. I start by arranging the larger furniture pieces and then fine-tune the room layout. Next, I add décor and plants, and finally, I choose a Doll and style her based on the color palette of the space. (2-6 hours, weekly)

Day 4-5: Photograph and video each space according to the desired lighting, with rooms shot in the morning and in the late afternoon. (1.5-2 hours, weekly)

Day 6: Deconstruct the spaces and organize everything back into their designated storage to prevent items from getting lost or damaged. (2-3 hours, weekly)

I repeat this process until I have completed all 6-8 concepts.

Day 7: Preview, organize, and edit all my photos, preparing them for upload to social media or my website. (2.5 hours per day) Since I only post once or twice a week, this batching approach allows me to have a backlog of content ready to go, giving me the flexibility to work on other projects while still maintaining a consistent posting schedule. If I don’t have any pending photoshoots for the following month, I continue this schedule to have two months’ worth of content prepared.

I find that I’m more creative in the evening or at night, so that’s when I typically style each space.

What about you? I’d love to hear about your time management hacks for content creation or projects!
