Inside My Studio: A Photographer's Creative Haven
Today, I'm excited to give you a sneak peek into my little slice of heaven: my studio space. Now, before we dive in, let me give you a bit of background.
Being prior military as well as a military spouse, I've become quite the nomad over the years, moving from place to place every couple of years. But when we finally settled into our current home, I knew I wanted to create something special, a space where I could let my creativity run wild.
A Photographer's Creative Haven
So, we decided to go all out and transform a large, open space into a dedicated studio. And let me tell you, it's been a game-changer for my creativity.
First things first, let's talk about the layout. The studio is an open-concept space flooded with natural light, thanks to two large windows along the back wall. To maximize storage, I incorporated Fjalkinge shelves from Ikea, (I used a lot pieces from Ikea for this space) which not only look sleek but also offer plenty of room for all my miniatures and doll collection.
Speaking of storage, organization is key in my studio. From labeled boxes to modular shelves, everything has its place. I even have a walk-in closet with wire shelving for furniture storage and a Kallax shelf filled with Tjena boxes for my Vitra Miniature chairs and miniature shelf collection.
In the heart of the studio, you'll find my Replica Eames Lounger for doll dressing sessions and a trusty Tommaryd table from Ikea for photography setups. With its standing height and easy mobility, and paired with my adjustable stool it's the perfect combination for long shooting sessions. I added a small table on casters for accessibility to house all my furniture pieces and miniatures while I work so nothing gets lost or damaged along the way.
Now, here's the kicker: my studio is intentionally devoid of dolls and miniatures (except for a few decorative chairs). Why, you ask? Well, I've found that I work best in clean, organized spaces. Plus, all the white furniture helps bounce light around the room, creating a bright and airy atmosphere.
All in all, my studio space is my sanctuary. It's where I can let my imagination run wild and create magic with my dolls and miniatures. And let me tell you, there's nothing quite like getting lost in your own curated little space of miniatures.
So, there you have it, my little slice of paradise. I hope you enjoyed the tour, and hopefully it'll inspire you to create your own dream studio space.
